Master Artificial Intelligence

Master Artificial Intelligence

Master’s in Artificial Intelligence

Program Overview

The Artificial Intelligence Master (AI) at the University of Clermont Auvergne (UCA), co-hosted by ISIMA (Higher Institute of Computer Science, Modeling, and Applications) and the UFR of Mathematics, is a two-year program designed to train experts in the design, development, and evaluation of AI systems. This program addresses the growing demand in various sectors, including high-tech industries, finance, services, and research laboratories.

The curriculum provides a solid foundation in computer science and applied mathematics, preparing students to engage in fields such as machine learning, data science, statistical modeling, and broader AI research. Through a pedagogy that balances theory and practice, the program equips students to tackle technological and societal challenges related to AI.

Skills Developed

The program aims to develop professionals capable of :

  • Analyzing complex needs and formulating strategic specifications

  • Designing, developing, and integrating AI solutions, considering economic, legal, ethical, and environmental constraints

  • Conducting continuous scientific and technological monitoring to ensure the updating and optimization of implemented systems

  • Evaluating the technical and societal impacts of deployed AI models, adhering to current regulations (RGPD, digital sovereignty, security)

  • Collaborating effectively in teams, communicating results clearly and rigorously, and working in an international environment with proficiency in English

Admission Requirements for the Artificial Intelligence Master

The AI Master’s program is open to holders of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics-Computer Science, Mathematics, or an equivalent qualification. Graduates of BUT (University Technology Diploma) programs in computer science or data, engineering schools like ISIMA, and professionals seeking career transitions through continuous education are also eligible.

Selection is based on application, considering prior competencies in mathematics and computer science, as well as the candidate’s motivation to engage in this high-technical field.

Program Structure

The program spans two years (M1 and M2), offering a balance between theoretical and practical learning. Courses include advanced modules in machine learning, data science, and algorithm development. Students participate in collaborative projects and benefit from internships in companies or research laboratories. Through ISIMA and UCA, the program integrates innovative approaches and partnerships with businesses to ensure immediate employability.

Knowledge Assessment

The master’s program includes theoretical exams, project work, and practical assessments. Internships in both M1 and M2 are evaluated through reports and oral defenses. Knowledge assessments are organized in two sessions per year, with a second session following the internship period. Compensation applies to all courses within a semester, except for the internship, which is not compensable.

Support and Flexibility

The program offers personalized pedagogical support provided by a team of recognized researchers from ISIMA and the UFR of Mathematics. For students seeking to tailor their path, transitions to other programs such as master’s degrees in applied mathematics or industrial engineering are possible. The program is also open to continuous education, allowing professionals to specialize or transition into AI-related careers.
